Worship Service

Regular Worship Services

Regular worship services are held in the Sanctuary every Sunday at 10:00am. Most services are ASL interpreted.

Sermons

Listen to past sermons.

Communion

Rite of Communion is observed on the first Sunday of every month. Communion is offered to any follower of Christ.

Bible Study

Bible study focuses on the lectionary texts that will be used for preaching the following Sunday. Bible study will be led either by Pastor Jeanyne or Pastor Rick, depending on who is preaching that Sunday. These sessions may also include interesting book discussions. No prior knowledge of the Bible is required. Bring your Bible and be willing to roll up your sleeves to dig into the texts. Open to everyone. Bible Study will resume at a later date which will be announced.

Music

The choir performs each Sunday, fall through spring, and music selections include contemporary arrangements, classic hymns, southern spirituals, bluegrass standards, and international favorites from around the world. We are also proud of how many BCUCC members are gifted musicians and have written or performed original music for the congregation. Additionally, our sanctuary is home to the only true pipe organ in North Orange County. Music specifically written for the pipe organ is a special and unique part of every worship service. Learn more about our Music Ministry.

Children & Teens

Children and teens are welcome to join in the worship service. At the close of “Pastor’s Time with the Children,” children may leave to attend their youth group classes. Learn more about Faith Formation.

Nursery

A fully equipped nursery provides quality care for children three years of age or younger. Crafts, games, and story-time are included, and parents are encouraged to visit.

Special Needs

The Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall are handicapped accessible. If you have any questions, or require assistance, please see one of the greeters or any church member. Additionally, most Sunday services are ASL interpreted.

American Sign Language

At Brea Congregational UCC, we’re aware of the special needs of Deaf people. Most of our Sunday worship services have an ASL interpreter. All Deaf people and their families are welcomed to join us.

Listening Assistance

Hearing-assistance devices have been added to many of the pews to enable hard-of-hearing people to listen to the sermons, prayers, and music.

Social Hour

Immediately following the worship service, we meet on Palm Patio or in Fellowship Hall for refreshments. Please join us for coffee and conversation.

First Food Sunday

On the first Sunday of each month, we collect non-perishable food items for those in need in our community. The items are collected during the offering portion of the worship service.

Holidays & Special Events

Throughout the year we hold services to recognize holidays, or special days in the liturgical calendar.

Upcoming Preaching Themes

Each Sunday looks at a fundamental and enduring value and what each means for our lives. Bible texts will be chosen accordingly. Pastors Jeanyne and Rick will focus their sermons and design the worship service around various themes over the next few months:

“Living the Mission” Sundays

May 30, 2010: Hunger (First Food Sundays)
August 29, 2010: Children (children’s offerings, children’s Sabbath)
October 31, 2010: Climate Change (landscape project, green program)
